Prayer Team Ministry is for everyone who
at the end of the night would like individual prayer for anything that the Holy
Spirit has placed on their heart. This
could be, for example:
Prayers for continual strength, for
an outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, for physical or mental healing; it could also be prayers for joy and peace, for
deeper discernment and conviction to whatever vocation the Lord is calling you
too, and the list goes on.
You will be prayed over by a team of
trained prayer ministers who are not going to do anything scary to you, but
only pray with you and ask for the Holy Spirit to grant the desires that have
been placed upon your heart, for in the Gospel of Matthew Jesus said:
“Again, truly I tell you, if two of you
agree on earth about anything you ask, it will be done for you by my Father in
heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among
them.” - Matt 18:19-20
At first it might seem scary to go up
and let other people pray over you, for some of the prayer ministers you might
not even know. I know I was scared the first time I was prayed over. It was my
Freshman year of college and I was at a Praise and Worship night on campus when
afterwards I felt I was suppose to go get prayed over but was scared to go up.
I sat in my pew for an hour - yes, a whole hour - watching other people get prayed
over and wrestling with myself over going up to get prayed over. Finally, the
Holy Spirit gave me the courage to go up and allow a team of 3 people to pray
over me for several things I wanted prayer for. During that time, I had one of
the most powerful experiences I have ever had during prayer. I received confirmation against what I was having doubts about and so much peace and joy that I
started crying, not out of sorrow, but out of the joy that I had received. Now
I love getting prayed over and have seen the Lord do so many awesome things
during Prayer Team Ministry, from broken bones being completely healed, people receiving abundant joy and peace, to people resting in the Holy
Spirit and even the simplest consolation of just being prayed with - all because of how much God loves us.
I encourage everyone who desires more
prayer to not be afraid of going to prayer teams at the end of the nights, for
even though sometimes the Lord does not gives us what we want, He always gives
us what we need, we just have to ask for it, for the Lord may say not yes, but
never says no to something that gets us closer to being in Heaven with Him for
eternity.
